Galena Bears Start Track And Field Season

March 28, 2019

The Galena Bears started their Track and Field season Friday, March 22, at the Irish Open hosted by Springfield-Catholic High School. This was the first time the Bears participated in this meet since the 1980s. After 20 practices, the Bears were ready to put their training to the test. 


Highlights of the meet for the Lady Bears were Britney Doucey placing 2nd in the high jump; 4x200m relay placed 3rd; 4x100m relay placed 5th; Amber Howard placed 5th in the 400m; and the 4x400m relay placed 2nd overall. On the boys side, Dawson Sherer Placed 1st in the high jump and javelin as well as placing 4th in the 300m hurdles. Caleb Clark placed 4th in the 400m. Overall the Bears first track meet was a success and they are looking forward to participating in the Ash Grove track meet Friday, March 29.
