Galena Golf at Clever Tournament
The Galena boys golf team traveled to Hidden Valley Golf Course in Boaz on April 5, where 12 schools competed. Clever High School hosted the meet. Galena played very well and gave their best effort, as did all the other schools. Galena finished in 10th place as a unit. The young men were pleased due to their scores improving.
Coming in first as top golfer for Galena was Zane Tolbert, shaving 19 strokes from a prior 18-hole event just a week before at Monett. Jacob Martin had a solid comeback improving his strokes by 10. Senior Hunter Chase, who plays baseball, stepped out on a limb and participated in his first golf tournament, leaving the crowd wowed by his golfing skills in his first match.
Senior Colby Stacy leaves us with this, “I was shaking off the rust throughout the day,” Colby said. This was his first competition since his sophomore year because COVID-19 canceled the season last year. “I was nervous today,” he added. He let go of the fear of being rusty and gave it his best shot. He golfed excellently for his first event in two years.
