Galena Bears Open Up the Season with a Victory Against Niangua

December 3, 2020
The Bears scored 90 points in their home opener, as the bench combined for 36 points. It was the first game of the season for both teams, and the Bears were not without their first game jitters. It took the Bears a few minutes to get going, but Wyatt Snelson got the Bears on the board with a baseline drive for a two-point layup.
From there, the Bears went on a 13-0 run, until Danny O’Neal hit a 3-pointer to get the Cardinals in the scoring column. The Bears never trailed in the game as they came out victorious 90-42. The Bears were led in scoring by senior, Zayne Gale, with 25 points, including going 3 for 4 from the 3 point line. Gale also pulled down 8 rebounds. Senior, Wyatt Snelson, chipped in with a double-double, scoring 19 and grabbing 11 rebounds. The Cardinals were led in scoring by Senior, Danny O’Neal.
The Bears will be in action next Tuesday, December 15, in the Gem City Classic at Diamond. The Bears garnered the two seed and will look to return to the championship game for the 2nd straight year.
