Fun In The Sun, Away From The Rain, At Hurley Independence Day

June 27, 2019
The new playground equipment at Hurley City Hall was a big hit with all of the children waiting to enjoy the fireworks show at dark. The fireworks were purchased and set off by the Hurley Fire Protection District. A few showers throughout the afternoon did not stop the show.
Andy Maxwell, left, holds a caricature he had drawn during the Hurley Independence Day celebration on Saturday, June 22. To his right is Addy Maxwell.
Shelby Simpson has her face pained during the annual Hurley Independence Day event. Face painting and caricatures, along with balloon animals, were provided by and supported the Hurley Church of God Purpose Youth group.
Hurley’s Mayor Steve Seaton, above center, enjoyed several rounds at the popular cake walk during this weekend’s festivities. Rain delayed the set up of some activities, including the band, but held off as the night went on and the fireworks were set off.
