Fourth COVID Case Incorrectly Assigned To Stone County
Second Case, Associated With Crane School, Reportedly Fully Recovered
April 16, 2020

Last week, a fourth positive case of COVID-19 was reported in Stone County by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS). According to Pam Burnett, director of Stone County Health Department (SCHD), the individual has an address in Stone County but had not lived here in the previous several weeks. As of Saturday, April 11, the state determined the case should be assigned to the county where the individual is residing.
“The individual has an address in Stone County but is not living here at the present time nor has the individual been in the area for the previous five weeks. There is no risk of exposure to Stone County,” the Stone County Health Department reported when information about the fourth case went live on the DHSS website on Thursday, April 9.
“After investigating the case it was determined this case would be re-assigned to the county the individual is residing in at the present time. This brings Stone County’s COVID-19 case count back to three total cases,” the health department said over the weekend.
Second confirmed case recovers
On Friday, April 10, SCHD reported the second case in Stone County had fully recovered. This is the individual who worked at Crane School, as reported previously.
In addition to that individual, all of their close contacts have been released from quarantine.
“We understand that in our small communities you might know one of our positive cases. We ask that you respect the individual’s privacy, understand they have been through a lot and give them a little grace as they re-enter our community,” the health department said.
