Crews were called to 108 Edgewood on midmorning on Monday, January 11, to Roger and Jennifer Taft’s home. Roger Taft and two other occupants were home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported, however, the family lost a pet in the fire. The home is a total loss.
Northern Stone County has been hit by a rash of home fires this winter where residents were home at the time of the fire. Residents are encouraged to follow the following safety tips and remember that smoke alarms can make the difference between life and death.
Install smoke alarms on every level of your home, inside bedrooms and outside sleeping areas.
Test smoke alarms every month. ...
Talk with all family members about a fire escape plan and practice the plan twice a year.
If a fire occurs in your home, GET OUT, STAY OUT and CALL FOR HELP.
