Driver Falls Asleep And Crosses Center Line Causing Wreck

One person was taken to the hospital early Sunday morning after a driver fell asleep at the wheel in southern Stone County. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Mandy N. Zimmer, 30, of Berryville, Ark., was driving a 2011 Kia Forte east on Highway 86 near Carr Lane.
At approximately 12:55 a.m., Zimmer fell asleep and the Forte crossed the centerline of the roadway, hitting the wesbound 2020 Chevrolet Express Van driven by Mary N. Pethybridge, 42, of Noel.
Pethybridge, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries in the crash. She was taken to Mercy Hospital in Berryville, Ark., for treatment.
Zimmer did not report any injuries in the crash. She was also wearing a seat belt.
Both the 2011 Kia Forte and the 2020 Chevrolet Express Van were totaled in the crash. They were towed from the scene by Chris’s Towing, of Lampe.
This incident was investigated by Trooper J. M. Linegar of Missouri State Highway Patrol.
