May 17, 2018
Isaac Estes-Jones
A Mega Millions ticket was sold at Flat Creek Resort in Cape Fair last week. The ticket matched all five white-ball numbers drawn on Friday, May 11, according to a release from the Missouri Lottery. The winning numbers are 14, 38, 40, 53 and 70.
Whoever holds this ticket can claim a prize of $1 million.
“If you’re the lucky player holding the million-dollar ticket from Friday night’s drawing, be sure to sign the back of it right away, and keep it in a safe place until you’re ready to claim your prize,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Missouri Lottery.
The winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize, meaning the ticket-holder has until November 7 to claim the prize at one of the four State Lottery offices in Missouri. These offices are located in Springfield, Jefferson City, Kansas City and St. Louis.
This win is the eighth time a Missouri Lottery Player has won a $1 million prize from Mega Millions since October 2013.
The Missouri Lottery was approved by voters in 1984. Starting in 1994, all proceeds from the various Lottery games are earmarked to support public education.
Lottery funds help support a variety of programs including the A+ Scholarship Program, Virtual Schools, Special Education Excess Costs and other programs. In 2017, the lottery contributed over $297 million to public education in the state.
Resources from the Missouri Lottery say of $275,000 was used by Stone County Schools in 2017. This total includes $10,794 for the Crane classroom trust, over $1,000 for early special education and $41,339 for transportation at Crane. Galena school district is reported to have received almost $8,000 for the classroom trust, $641 for early special education and $63,792 for transportation.
Numbers for Hurley were: $4,300 for classroom trust and over $12,000 for transportation.
