DAR Honors Tea Held

The Elk Horn Prairie Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution held their annual Honors Tea at 1 p.m. at the Aurora Community Center in Aurora on April 4, 2019.
The American History Essay winners were: Mt. Vernon: 5th Grade: Liam Hansen - 1st Place (submitted to State) and Emily Fox - 2nd Place. Shell Knob: 6th Grade: Aaliyah Franklin - 1st Place (submitted To State) and Lily Anderson - 2nd Place.
Mt. Vernon: 7th Grade: Akaymi Cummins - 1st Place. Shell Knob: 7th Grade: Juliette Johnson - 1st Place and Addison Sherfy - 2nd Place.
Crane: 7th Grade: Gracie Rich - 1st Place and Shay Blair - 2nd Place.
Spokane: 7th Grade: Genna Hammer -1st Place (submitted to State and was State Winner) and Gabryel Nord - 2nd Place.
Marionville: 8th Grade: Alexis Hardesty - 1st Place and Silvia Mayorga - 2nd Place.
Crane: 8th Grade: Nicholas McKinley - 1st Place (submitted to State) and Dakota Faucett - 2nd Place.
Aurora High School 11th Grade Christopher Columbus Essays: Madison Hartwigsen - 1st Place (submitted to State) and Natalie Wallace - 2nd Place.
Each student received a certificate, a coin and the student essays that were submitted to State received medals. Barbara Cohu was Chairman.
The DAR Good Citizens Awards were presented to seniors: Aurora: Savannah Marie Miller; Crane: Kaitlynn Ashlie Robinson; Galena: Madison Lee Mathewson; Hurley: Hailey Arvilla White; Marionville: Tabatha Lynn Morrison; Mt. Vernon: Colton John Hicks; Miller: Bethany Dale Gulick; and Verona: Rita Maria Castillo.
Each student received a certificate, pin and wallet card. Myrna Fischer was Chairman.
Photos were taken and refreshments were served to students, administrators, parents and grandparents.
