Crane resident killed in crash

Jeffrey A. Holden, 42, of Crane, was killed in a crash that occurred at 2:15 a.m., September 20, on the westbound I-44 exit ramp 58, near Halltown.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Holden’s 2005 Ford Mustang was westbound on the exit ramp, when it left the roadway, hit an embankment and became airborne. After striking the ground and overturning, it hit a tree and came to rest on its top. Holden, who was not wearing a safety device, was ejected. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by Lawrence County deputy coroner, Larry Eden at 3:35 a.m.
A passenger in Holden’s vehicle, Kristen M. Hoss, 32, of Steelville, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by Mercy Lifeline, with serious injuries.
The body of the deceased was transported to Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City.
The vehicle was towed from the scene by Biellier’s Wrecker Service.
The accident marked Troop D’s 10th fatality crash for September and the 83rd for 2020. The accident was investigated by Major Sergeant S. Jones.
