Crane Elementary Students Learn About Soil Science
May 30, 2019
Paula Welter from the Stone County Soil and Water Conservation District spoke with Crane Elementary fourth graders on Friday, April 5. Welter presented on how students can conserve soil and informed them on the different layers of soil. Among the discussion was how soil travels from one place to another, what types of things can be grown in each type of soil, and how long it takes for one inch of soil to build up. Each student was able to take home a sample of 5 different layers of soil in a test tube and eat ‘soil’.
