Clever and Marionville School Bond Issues

March 29, 2018
Isaac Estes-Jones
Clever and Marionville school districts are seeking voter permission to take out bonds for facilities improvements. According to the schools, neither bond is expected to alter the school’s debt-service levy.
Clever is seeking $1.25 million for Proposition K.I.D.S. The school would use the funds to construct and equip an early-childhood education center on the school grounds. The funding would also furnish the building and, with any additional money, the school would take on other repairs to the district. According to the ballot language, the district anticipates the debt-service levy to remain at $1.0300 per $100 of assessed value on property.
Marionville school seeks $2 million to build a FEMA shelter at the high school and to make improvements to the middle school gym, multipurpose gym and K-8 building.
The FEMA shelter, which is designed to Federal Emergency Management Agency standards for safety in bad weather, would also serve as the high school music facility.
According to information from Marionville R-9 School District, the shelter would be about 1,500 square feet and would allow music students to remain on the high school campus, rather than being bussed on an hourly basis to the K-8 facility, while other improvements include new roofs for other gyms in the distrcit and locker room and stage renovations at the middle school
The school anticipates the debt-service levy for district residents to remain at $0.98 per $100 of valuation.
