School Bond Issues, City Boards and Health Dpt. Building among Issues on Tuesday's Ballot

March 29, 2018
Isaac Estes-Jones
Tuesday, April 3 is municipal election day. You can find the sample ballot HERE.
This year, several area schools have bond issues. There is also the proposed new Stone County Health Department building and elections for board members in Crane and Galena. Crane, Marionville and Clever schools all have ballot issues as well.
The make up of City Council in Crane and Galena may also potentially change. In Crane, incumbent Tena Reel is challenged by Scott Williams. In Galena, the entirety of the council is essentially up for grabs. Vonda K. Barela and Fred Barela are up for the two one year term seats. There are also two seats with a two year term. That contest is between Deana Wells, Sean Lelon Lancaster and John A. Arrington.
Absentee voting is still ongoing in advance of the actual election. To vote absentee, one can go to the County Clerk’s Office in Galena. While the rest of the County offices will be off on Friday, the Clerk’s office will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those who need to vote absentee also have the opportunity on Saturday, March 31, from 8 a.m. to noon. On Monday, April 2, the clerk’s office will stay open an extra hour to 5 p.m.
The polls will open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at your regular polling places. Precinct locations can be found online at http://stonecountyclerk.com/locations/precincts.
Election results by precinct will be included in the April 5 edition of this paper.
