Suspect Arrested After Alleged Threat Of Deputy With Gun Christmas Day

January 10, 2019

Isaac Estes-Jones

A woman from the rural Crane area is being held without bond in the Stone County Jail after she allegedly made threatening statements toward two while armed with a gun on Christmas morning.

According to affidavits of probable cause, used in filing charges, Deputy Holmes, of the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a residence in the rural Crane area on Christmas day, December 25, after a reported 911 hang up from that location.

When the deputy arrived at the residence, the statement reports he was informed that Leanna Cable, 34, was involved in a domestic dispute and she had reportedly shot at the individual.

The victim also alleged that Cable discharged the weapon while in the same room as a child.

While Deputy Holmes was attempting to speak with Cable, she allegedly continued to make threats against the victim, as well as threats against the deputy, all while armed with a handgun.

Holmes used his Taser on Cable. While on the ground after being tased, Cable allegedly attempted to point the weapon at Deputy Holmes until she was disarmed and placed in restraints.

Cable was booked into the Stone County Jail on Wednesday, January 2. She is being held without bond as of press time on Tuesday, January 8.

She is charged with felony domestic assault in the third degree, unlawful use of a weapon by exhibiting and first degree endangering the welfare of a child.

She last appeared in Stone County courts before Judge Blankenship on Tuesday, January 8.
