CHANCES Of Stone County To Host Special “NightanGala” This Fall

Non-Profit Dedicated To Helping Those With Developmental  Disabilities Seeks Sponsors

May 2, 2019

Isaac Estes-Jones

CHANCES of Stone County, a non-profit organization that works to enhance the lives of those with developmental disabilities, will host a special fundraising evening this September. The “NightanGala” will be held on Friday, September 6, at Chateau on the Lake in Branson.

The event, subtitled “Partners in Possibilities,” is being held through the Price Cutter Charity Championship (PCCC). CHANCES was selected as the charity of the year for the 2018 Price Cutter Charity Championship. They received $30,000 in funding, which has allowed the group to secure office space in Reeds Spring and start a series of weekly activities, Club Day Break, for adults with developmental disabilities to learn new skills and gain a sense of purpose after graduating from school.

PCCC is helping with promotion and some advertising. All funds raised will also be handled by the organization. PCCC takes a small percentage of funds raised through these types of events, but that money goes into the pool of funds for 45 other Ozarks childrens charities and groups.

CHANCES, which stands for Community Helping Able Neighborhood Citizens Experience Success, wanted to increase their fundraising efforts for 2019, according to organizers. “Last year, we had our very own Bowlathon event through PCCC and decided this year to ‘up our game’ and hold NightanGala,” said Cherie Smetana, board secretary with CHANCES of Stone County.

The name of the event, NightanGala, started from a play on words with nightingale but does not hold any other special significance.

The group hopes this event will help to continue to fund either current programs, which also includes Music, Art and Dance (M.A.D.) Saturdays. “We’d also like to expand our reach to our community further; getting more businesses involved and reaching out to other developmentally disabled that may not know about us,” said Smetana. To that end, CHANCES has also been working with the Stone County Developmental Disabilities Board.

NightanGala will feature a three course meal, silent and live auctions, live entertainment from Branson entertainers and a special performance from some of CHANCES “biggest stars.”

The organization is looking for sponsors for the event at several levels. Individual tickets to the event will be $125.
