A Reeds Spring man who recently filed for state office was arrested last week and charged with domestic assault.
Isaac Howard Paul Boyd, 39, was booked into the Stone County Jail on Tuesday, March 6 with a charge of 4th Degree Domestic Assault, which is a Class A misdemeanor in the state of Missouri.
According to affidavits of probable cause, used in filing charges against him, Isaac Boyd assaulted a family member on Sunday, March 4.
Boyd allegedly had a confrontation with the family member then grabbed the victim in what the probable cause statement describes as a “bear hug position.” Boyd allegedly squeezed the victim in that position for five minutes before letting go because the victim was calling 911. The victim reported being terrified during the incident.
Boyd also allegedly whispered into the victim’s ear while they were being squeezed, saying, among other things, “Just breathe [victim], just breathe.”
Boyd was arrested two days later on Tuesday, March 6. He is being held in the Stone County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
Isaac Howard Paul Boyd filed for State Representative for District 138 on Tuesday, February 27. As of presstime, he had not withdrawn his candidacy.
If convicted of this charge, Boyd would still be eligible to hold state office. Missouri statutes forbid only those convicted of a felony from holding office.
Class A misdemeanors carry a maximum sentence of one year incarceration and a maximum fine of $2,000.
