C of O To Host 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

September 6, 2018
PictureThe Lest We Forget memorial is located on the College of the Ozarks campus, next to the fire department.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, at 9 a.m., College of the Ozarks will hold a special ceremony to commemorate the lives of those who perished during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The ceremony will be held at the Lest We Forget 9/11 Memorial located next to the C of O Fire Department on James Forsythe Drive on the College of the Ozarks campus.
The public is invited to attend.
“Everything we do is to remember the fallen,” said Bryan Cizek, director of patriotic activities. “It is important that we never forget the lives lost on that day. We are getting further removed in time from this tragic incident. Many of our students are too young even to remember. Seventeen years ago, they were all newborns. It is vitally important that we continue to host memorial services such as this to honor those who died on September 11, 2001.”
The ceremony will include music from the College of the Ozarks Concert Band, the raising of the 9/11 National Remembrance Flag, and remarks from President Jerry C. Davis and David Vogt, associate professor of criminal justice. The flags will be raised by Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader and Taney County Chief Deputy Brad Daniels.
