Broiler Festival Thank You Note
August 29, 2019
Broiler Festival 2019 is in the books. There are so many volunteers to thank, it’s difficult to remember them all. First, I would like to thank the board members. These people take time out of their busy schedules to get this show going each year so: Jackie, Joy, Michael, Darryl, Mark, Roger and Chris, thank you so much.
Next, I would like to recognize John, Tonya and the gang at Porter’s Supermarket for their long-term commitment to the festival. The Broiler Festival would not happen without the city workers, Bobby, Loy, Eddie and everyone else, so thank you for the long hours and answering endless phone calls. Our set-up crew, Jeff, Jesse, Carson, Tyler, Hunter, Heath and all, thanks much.
Our entertainment folks, Travis, Levon, all the folks with Morning Star Church, the Cavener’s et. al., Shana, thank you. Tyson Foods, Highland Dairy and V-Mar. These businesses, along with many others, make this smooth and easier.
I also want to show appreciation to all the volunteers who cook, serve, clean, handle trash, wash pots and pans, clean restrooms and the list goes on and on.
A lot of people ask what we do with the money we make. Right now, our big project and our big concern is the condition of our pavilion. Replacing it is our top priority. We’ve been working with the city and others to try and replace the structure that has served us well, but it’s time for a new building. Safety and longevity are our biggest concerns.
We hope with this new endeavor that the smiles, laughter and reminisces we all got to see and share as children, will continue with the present and future generations. I’m sure I’ve missed more names (Tia, Angie, Max M. and Max E.) Thank all of you so much. We’ll be looking for you in 2020.
See you then.
