After several months, the city of Crane has a new police chief.
In a special closed session on January 13, 2020, Crane’s Board of Aldermen met to interview and confirm Bill Timmsen as Crane’s Chief of Police. Following an in-depth interview, the board unamimously voted to approve Mayor Collin Brannan’s appointment as chief
On September 21, 2020, Crane’s long time police chief, John Elmore resigned after being with the department for fifteen years. No reason has ever been given as to his resignation.
Since that time the city has accepted applications, a process that has stretched out over 4 months.
Mayor Collin Brannan said he had received several very good applications for the chief position, but one application stood out from the rest, one that he was thrilled to offer the position to. “I know it’s been a slow process, but I honestly think we have found the best of the best.” Brannan said. Aldermen Doug Minton said “This guy is the real deal. He has the experience, maturity, personality and management skills that will truly benefit our community.”
According to a press release from the city of Crane, Chief Timmsen brings to the City his 25 years of law enforcement experience with the Palm Beach County Florida Sheriff’s Office where he served in the divisions of Corrections, Road Patrol, Organized Crime Unit and Major Crimes Unit. Timmsen also brings with him, experience as a general manager for a multi-state seed company and a large animal feed company.
Chief Bill Timmsen said “I’m looking forward to the opportunity of meeting the good folks of Crane and looking forward to being a positive influence in as many lives as I can be. It is an honor to be able to serve Crane.”
