Shana Harter
Better pay for county officers and school resource officers are just a couple of the benefits the county will soon reap after Proposition P, the Stone County sales tax initiative for law enforcement easily garnered voter approval in Tuesday’s election. The measure passed with 77 percent of the vote. Reeds Spring and Crane School Districts each passed no-tax-increase school bond issues. Reeds Spring will now build a new career center, renovate the Primary School and Early Education Center, and build a park. Reeds Spring RS Vision 2025 school bond issue passed with 75 percent in favor, and Crane will begin phase one of a new sports complex that will include a lighted track, ballfields, and eventually a football field. The one million dollar bond issue passed with two-thirds approval.
Cori Dykes and Jeremy Moreland were elected to the Crane School Board in other races. Jeremiah Doak and BJ Sartin will now serve on Galena’s Board of Education, and Perry Phillips and Kim Steed will sit on the board at Reeds Spring.
