On May 8, Galena went to Reeds Spring for the District Meet. Galena did really well by having 11 athletes move on to the Class 1 Sectionals, and three of those are district champions.  The first district champion is senior Chalice Sherer winning the 100M Hurdles with a time of 17.28 and the 300M hurdles with a time of 51.04. We also had sophomore Colton Ellingsworth take first place in the 1600M Run with a time of 4:53.74. Then our last district champ is sophomore, Maci Doak, winning the 200M Dash with 27:48 seconds. The men’s 4X400 and 4X800 relay teams also qualified for Districts.
The district qualifiers participated in the sectional meet at Sarcoxie on May 15. Six athletes placed in the top five in at least one event and qualified for the state track meet this Saturday at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. Colton Ellingsworth, Cameron Sartin, Cameron Elder, and Jacob Martin finished second in the 4X800 Relay. Ellingsworth also finished fourth and qualified in the 1600-meter run. Chalice Sherer qualified for top-five finishes in the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, and the triple jump. Finally, Maci Doak qualified for state in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and 400-meter dash. Those who qualified will participate in the state meet this Saturday, May 22, beginning with the boys relay team at 12:30 PM.
