Just days after Judge Alan Blankenship dismissed all charges filed by Stone County Prosecutor Matt Selby against three men charged in the deadly 2018 duck boat tragedy on Table Rock Lake, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt has refiled charges against the trio. Seventeen people, including five children and a family of nine, perished that day.
Stretch Duck 7 captain Kenneth McKee is again charged with 17 counts of first-degree involuntary manslaughter, five counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child resulting in the death of a child, and seven counts of first degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Charles Baltzell and Curtis Lanham, duck boat supervisors, are charged with 17 counts of first-degree involuntary manslaughter.
The charges stem from the July 19, 2018, capsizing of Stretch Boat 07 on Table Rock Lake during a powerful gust front ahead of a severe thunderstorm.
The AG’s office maintains that the crew was reckless in allowing the duck boat to enter the water when strong storms were encroaching the area.
Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt issued this statement, “As I’ve said previously, my office is committed to fighting for justice on behalf of the 17 people that were tragically killed in 2018 - that’s why we refiled the charges in this case.”
