Assessor Daugherty Reminds That Assessment Forms Coming Due
February 14, 2019
Matt Daugherty, Stone County Assessor, reminds property owners, including businesses, that they must report all personal property owned or held on January 1st to the assessor’s office by March 1, 2019. Those not returning a completed list to the assessor by the deadline may be subject to a penalty.
“Many property owners have already reported their personal property, but there are quite a few out there that have not and since state statutes don’t provide us with much discretion to waive penalties, we’re making every effort to remind people to return their list on time,” Mr. Daugherty said.
In January, every Stone County personal property owner was mailed a form that reflected the assessor’s records, upon which the taxable property must be reported. If your address has changed, please provide the office with the correct information. Don’t forget to list any new items as well.
Anyone who failed to receive a form is encouraged to contact the assessor’s office at (417) 357-6141. Forms may also be printed from the assessor’s website.
