Area Schools Release Enrollment For 2018-19 Year

August 23, 2018
Isaac Estes-Jones
Now that school is back across Stone County, enrollment numbers for area schools are beginning to settle. While there will likely still be some movement to and from the schools, the following numbers should be accurate.
At Crane R-III, there are a total of 586 students enrolled, from pre-kindergarten to high school seniors. Of those, 266 are middle or high school students, grades seven through twelve. That leaves 320 in Pre-K through sixth grade. According to Crane Superintendent Dr. Chris Johnson, 45 are in pre-kindergarten.
As of Thursday, August 16, enrollment at Hurley R-I School District totaled 228, in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades. There are 101 students in seventh through twelfth grades, “with two more on the way,” said High School Principal Joey Little. There are 20 students currently attending pre-kindergarten and an additional 107 in kindergarten through sixth grades.
There are currently 492 Galena R-II Bears attending school this year. 220 of them are in seventh through twelfth grades, with 272 attending pre-kindergarten through sixth grades at Galena-Abesville Elementary.
