For the past five years, the Brown family of Branson has honored foster families in Stone and Taney Counties with a special Christmas gifting show.
The special event takes place on Sunday, December 9th at 3pm at the Branson Famous Theater, home of the famous Baldknobbers. While foster families are the special guests for this unique holiday production, the general public is also invited to attend.
The gifting show features the Brown Family, Harmony Trio and a variety of other guests, including the big man in red and white!
“It’s our fifth annual gifting show for foster families,” says Melonie Brown. “We’ve been able to bless foster families with gifts and free tickets for their whole family for the last four years. We’re doing it again on Sunday December 9th at 3pm! This year we are also heading to Jefferson County, MO on December 15th to hold another Gifting show for the foster families of that county. Both shows will benefit 92 families this year, representing more than 300 children,” said Ms. Brown. The foster family program has grown to the point that Brown has started a new non-profit organization, Joyful Heart Music Foundation, to help raise additional funds for the gifting. Joyful Heart, a 501(c)(3) will continue to raise support and awareness of the great need for foster families.
Melonie Brown has fostered over 29 children in Stone and Taney counties, along with raising 8 of her own children. She says, “I strongly feel that we need to thank the families willing to take on the responsibility of raising children that aren’t their own. It can be difficult to care for your own children while also providing for the needs and responsibilities of foster kids. Dollars are usually stretched so far that you can’t afford extra splurges, like a Branson music show. We’re holding this free program to treat foster families to a great time and some extra Christmas gifts!”
In addition to the Brown family singers, the talent lineup for the show includes Brian Keith Pendergrass, Tammy Joplin, Gloria Elliott, the Lowe Sisters, Harmony Trio, and Tessa Bratz from Sunshine Dance Studio. Santa Claus will also make a special appearance to take pictures with the kids starting at 2pm.
Brown says this is her way of thanking foster parents. “Thank you for caring for these children who aren’t related to you, and who have far more needs than usual. These kids disrupt your daily life, yet you gratefully share it with them. I want to add special thanks to all the sponsors who are donating gifts, money and time to make this possible,” says Brown. “We’re getting help from the Mabe family at the Baldknobbers Theater, the Imax Entertainment Complex and three of their businesses including Shadow Box Gifts, Legends And Legacy Gifts and musician James Garrett. We’re also getting help from Chic-Fil-A, the Fogle Foundation, the Branson Craft Mall and more! These sponsors make it possible for us to treat foster families to this special event!”
Everyone is welcome to attend this uplifting and meaningful event to honor foster families. “Even if you don’t have foster kids,” says Brown, “come witness an entertaining time of gift giving, singing and music!” General public tickets are available for a $15.00 donation at the door. Kids 13 and under are admitted free of charge. “All donations go to help make this event possible,” says Brown.
